So, what stripes are you wearing?
Are you ashamed of your stripes? No one is all glossy and smooth, perfectly looking individual.
Our stripes could be scars, physical wounds, emotional traumas, mental scrapes and other flaws. We so want to cover so that no one would see.
In a society that produces ways to help humans, no one wants imperfections. We are surrounded by ads promoting how to “create” your identity. We are to believe that this is the natural way to care and accept ourselves. Books and guides, podcasts, YouTube vids and various social media feeds that would show us acceptance and loving yourself.
There are those which are genuine to their message. But mostly, we are influenced with programmed belief and manipulated images. All authenticity is lost in the process. The real message behind is if you want to be accepted then change who you are; cover your natural being. Change how you project identity. “Copy me”.
But I rather be flawed than fake… I have stripes … I covered them. But the more I try putting band aid on it the more these stripes get ugly… Sometimes trying to patch them help, a healing scars hurt. But patches don’t really stay for long.. wounds need to breathe and free new skin to come.
Stripes are part of me.
We all have stripes… It’s hard to show for some… but once we learn to wear our stripes and uncover them we learn to accept, also other peoples’ stripes. There’s nothing like living flawed, fabulous, and free…
There is someone too who already wear & paid for our stripes. CHRIST. Isaiah 53:5.
HE took pain and lashes on his skin that His scars freed all flawed and imperfect sinners. HIS stripes healed our stripes.
