Seen & Stare

_DSC1718 (2)

Serenity turns nimble

As dawn wanes

Hours ago

Life on the streets

Begins. Everybody’s

On the go

Surged on the scene

One early morning

Merged among the hustles

Of scurrying furs

And muscles

I’ve seen.

One corner stales

Tip of an eye

The one on the left,

Caught something

Someone squats still

The hurrying blurs

Suddenly focused

Someone stares

In an omnibus.

I had seen.

Is it a greet,

Or a grin.

His eyes blink enigma

Captured another stigma

The lenses

Of this borrowed camera

Only prints a porn

A little drama

A riddle, an illusion

All entertaining

Through illumination

Back to enigma.

Standing still

Trying to find focus

His veins turned

Gaze slurred

Shutter burned

I was shunned.

The enigma was real.

Reality slammed finally

As arms, boots, and elbows

Shook me.

Back to enigma

Is it a greet,

Or a grin.

Is he still

or had too much

to feel.

He kept still.

Only his gaze

His grin

His scene

Is moving, bustling

His own enigma.

Only he can tell

If it’s a greet

Or a grin

Or he grits

For he doesn’t

Choose this scene

Is it a smile

Is it a whine

Or he warns

I’ve been seen.

And stares deemed,

I had seen, and stare

From those who

scrolled pass him

It’s sinister.

nice question! i always think of who could he be… he’s a homeless man, he appears in that usual spot in our market here in Baguio City… no one really bothers him…
